Course Descriptions
Health Description:
Health is a required semester course that focuses primarily on students personal health. The course will offer students an opportunity to learn skills that could help them throughout their lives. They will acquire knowledge, practice skills, and develop attitudes that can benefit them throughout life. Building a solid foundation of good decision making skills can contribute to a variety of healthy choices for self and others. The course will consist of nutrition, prevention and control of disease, mental health, alcohol drug and tobacco abuse. The Health Education course will also focus on the school board approved curriculum of Reproductive Health.
Women Studies Description:
Women Studies is an elective semester course that focuses primarily on women's health. Young females today are growing up with more demands today than in the past. They are being raised in a culture with high pressure, a cyber-culture world, high expectations of academic achievement, a variety of extracurricular involvement, impeccable physical appearances, single parent homes, and social stressors. This semester course will provide young female students with the tools necessary to empower them to reconcile conflicting roles and marriage stress so they are successful women in our society.
Family Living Description:
Family Living is an elective semester course that focuses primarily on having a healthy family. Building a solid foundation of good decision making skills when it comes to developing healthy dating skills, maintaining healthy marriage, healthy pregnancy, and how to raise healthy children. This course will also focus on how to coordinate work and family. This semester course will provide students with the tools to have healthy relationships.
